Who am I?
I’m a recent M.A. graduate in History that is living and working in Portland, Oregon.
Wisconsin-Born
I grew up in Wisconsin, and obtained a B.A. in Marketing at UW-Eau Claire in 2016.
Alaska
In 2016 I moved to Juneau, Alaska for an AmeriCorps service opportunity with The Learning Connection. There, I tutored adult learners to pass the GED exam, and produced marketing content. All of our services were completely free to residents of Southeast Alaska.
Milwaukee
In 2022 I moved with my partner to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to begin my M.A. in History. After working on Alaskan histories, I devoted myself to Italian history.
Portland
In 2024 I moved to Portland, Oregon, where I now live and work.
My Work
Alaska Statehood and Modernization Theory
I have worked on the Alaska statehood movement in reference to social science experts use of modernization theory and the ambiguous legal status of indigenous Alaska Natives.

Italian Modernist Architecture
I’m interested in 19th and 20th century Italian art and architecture, with particular reference to the modernist architecture movement. I have worked on Gio Ponti’s Domus journal, as well as its relationship to the Bauhaus.

Italian Intellectual History
My primary interest lies in Italian intellectual history between the Risorgimento and fascism. I have researched Italian philosophers, sociologists, and economists with reference to their theories of history in the making of national identity.

What Else?
I LOVE Hiking!
My spouse and I met hiking in her hometown of Juneau. When we travel, our favorite destinations always involve great hiking and delicious after-the-trail food.
I Like “Classical” Guitar
I have played guitar since I was 12, and particularly enjoy fingerstyle, “classical” guitar arrangements — although, that genre isn’t necessarily my favorite to listen to, I confess. I prefer to listen to 1960s and 1970s classic rock and British Invasion-type music, including the Raspberries, I nuovi angeli, the Grass Roots, and Chicago.
I Make Digital Photos and Videos
Over the years and primarily out of fun, I taught myself photo and video editing software like Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, and have created content for work and recreation.
I LOVE Animals
I have a rabbit named Winnie, and a bearded dragon named Zion.

Italian Architecture
One long essay I have developed focuses on Gio Ponti’s Domus journal and architectural program. I focus on the relationship between emotional expression and particular architectural forms that culminate in the V Triennale exhibition in Milan.
Italian Theory
I have several essays on Italian intellectuals. One addresses their engagement with marginalist economics in relation to Homo economicus, hedonism, and the possibility of social research at the end of the 20th century.
